RollPlay Acrostic Poems

RollPlay is a show on YouTube that features people from e-sports who play Dungeons and Dragons. Here are some acrostic poems about the characters they play.

Geneviève Forget
All she wants is a small ferret to pet
But maybe line her pockets with much gold
Inside her pouch is all that she has found
Gathered from adventures across the land
Afraid perhaps of making a single sound
Everywhere she searches for one to hold
Love is the treasure she will one day get

Movie Review: The Wolverine Extended Edition

The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukashima, Hiroyuki Sanada, Svetlana Khodchenkova, and Famke Janssen, is essentially the sequel to X-men Last Stand but only focused on Wolverine. Trying to deal with the loss of Jean Grey at his own hands, Logan tries to find purpose in his life while traveling to Japan to say goodbye to an old friend.

There is a central theme throughout the film of Logan trying not to be the animal he thinks he is. His gruff nature is only accentuated by the strict nature of Japanese culture.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 21

Only way to find better gear is to find better loot.

Day 64
I walked east past Falkreath to find this place on my map where I could find another word in Dovah. It took some backtracking as I went too far to Helgen. Bandits have now occupied the ruins, and I slew three before leaving. I eventually found a cave with an ice wolf fighting an ice wraith. Surprisingly the ice wolf held his own. I got him with an arrow, but he ran off. As I investigated further, I found why he never came back. The cave was inhabited by a frost troll. I poisoned my blade, fired an arrow at him, then took two mighty swings and felled the creature. I thought it was going to be tougher.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 20

Tying up loose ends.

Day 62
I thought Markarth was doing pretty well, but apparently the Forsworn are making things difficult. The jewelery merchent had hardly any gold to buy the rings off me. I sold a few more items in the general store. Then I made a stop at the blacksmith who was run by an Orc female. I was considering a little something something until I heard her talk. She talks about beating children really hard. Something tells me she's not the parenting type. I sold the rest of my loot, including all of the magical gear I found. I made a few gold rings with the jewels I had picked up on my travels. After consulting with the blacksmith, she showed me how to work with Dwemer materials. I looked at what it would take to build some Dwemer armor, and bought what I thought I would need based on what I thought I had at home.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 19

Questions of Warrog's sanity as all kinds of other worldly beings converse with him.

Day 59
I had only planned on dropping a few things off at my house, but I got into the building mood. I finally finished the enchanter's table, built some weapon plaques, and organized the house a bit. I got about five hours of sleep in my warm bed before leaving.

Day 60
It's been two months since my new life began. It feels like a lot longer. If you had asked me two months ago if I thought I would have a large house with 30,000 gold, and be known as the Dragonborn, I would have thought you crazy. Though if anyone reads this, they might think me mad for all of the voices I hear. I think for now I'll keep my sanity from anyone else.

When I left my house, I found some bandits trying to sneak inside. I'm thinking I need some sort of security around here. I killed them and looted what little they had on them.

For once, I arrived at Riverwood and no dragons were attacking and killing people. I sold the rest of the little things I had left over plus the bandits' gear before traveling all the way back north, through Morthal, and up a mountainside to find this shrine.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 18

When a hot woman's voice in your head tells you to kill people, it's okay to listen.

Day 57
The Library, as it was, wasn't much to look at. I have more readable books in my house than what's left. Apparently if you leave a bunch of books to people under some sort of spell, they get burned or ruined. We found some priests inside who were fighting the Orcs, but they didn't much like us there either. I saved what books I could from the Library, letting the priest of Mara have a look at them. One of them had the information on how to get past the barrier. It involved some sort of potion.

We sneaked into the East Wing, past more of the Awakened as he calls them. The Laboratory had lots of Alchemy ingredients that I snagged up. I found the potion as well, which he told me to drink. The further we go through this, the more I'm hoping it pays very well.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 17

When you find a town infested with Daedra influences, you just gotta help.

Day 57
It was evening when I arrived at Dawnstar. The snow was falling as I looked through the town for merchants who could buy my loot. I found the blacksmith standing around with a woman. They were talking about people not having a good night's sleep. After I sold some armor, I asked about the bad night's sleep, figuring some dragon had been terrorizing the town; that seems to be fairly commonplace as of late.

Apparently, everyone is having the same nightmare every night. The blacksmith said there was a priest of Mara in the Inn who could hopefully release the curse they were under. Maybe he could pray to Malacath if he wants a curse lifted. All Mara does is bring two people together to be miserable in each other's presence.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 16

More loot, more problems.

Day 54
I'll give the Forsworn one thing: they sure sprint into battle. Sadly for them, going up against Warrog means sprinting to your death. Those I couldn't snipe and rushed me met my Elven Greatsword. Inside a tower, I found more Forsworn to meet their death. When I exited the top of the tower, I came face to face with a Hagraven. And I thought the woman who ran the orphanage was ugly. What's worse is they use magic, so after a couple arrows, and a few chops with my axe, I killed it. I found another word in Dovah, this one for disarming my opponents. My philosophy is a weapon in an opponent's hand doesn't work if they're lying dead on the ground.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 15

Vampires, Bears, and Dragons, oh my!

Day 52
I arrived at Kynesgrove to hear the screams of a woman. She had seen the dragon flying about, and was going to look for someplace to hide, but stood there in fear. Dead soldiers littered the ground which were promptly looted. At the burial ground was Delphine and a large black dragon who spoke a bunch of Dovah, a dragon skeleton came out of the ground, and it regained its soul. The black dragon flew off leaving the newborn to finish us off. I hid behind a large boulder and sniped at the dragon with poisoned flame arrows. Once the dragon was dead, I absorbed its soul, and Delphine was finally convinced I was the Dragonborn. Nevermind the summons by the old guys, or stealing my horn.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 14

The adventures continue as Warrog tries to get as much done in a single trip while getting tired of being fucked with.

Day 49
It was evening by the time I arrived in Riverwood. I went to the Inn and asked for a room in the attic as the note told me to. The woman said there wasn't a room in the attic, but did give me a normal room. I tried to get a refund, but she walked away. When I went to my room, the woman followed me in and said we should talk.

I followed her into a different room where I closed the door for her, and she opened a secret passage through a wardrobe. They don't have an attic, but they apparently have a cellar.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 13

Wild goose chases, conflicting feelings, and learning more new shouts and Dovah words.

Day 46
It was cold and drafting inside High Hrothgar. I talked to one of the old guys and he told me to shout at him. I shouted the word for Frost, but he told he wanted to hear Force. There was no grass around, but I shouted it anyway. He said I was the Dragonborn, but that I would need training. He wanted to teach me more of Unrelenting Force with the word Balance. Apparently, the souls of dragons that I absorbed allow me to use their knowledge to further learn the power of the dragon language. I had to do a few tests for him. Thank, Malacath, I had the Amulet of Talos to allow me to shout more often.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 12

Killing for money, and outrunning all that Skyrim has to offer: Tales of Warrog.

Day 44
It was only eight in the evening, but if I wanted to be in Riverwood by the time the shops opened, I had to go to sleep early. I think you age prematurely being an adventurer. It's been six weeks and already I'm going to bed early. I knew I would be buying some expensive items, so I grabbed the items out of my safe to be sold.

I got some iron ore, a few straw for the future, and I bought a filled grand soul gem. I was able to sell a magical bow I had lying about, and the necromancer's amulet I got from Windhelm. The blacksmith had the refined moonstone I was looking for, but no gold ingot. No one even had any gold ore for me to use.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 11

Warrog learns an important lesson: lock the doors, and get a guard dog.

Day 41
I found enough materials to finish the last two additions to my house. I now have an Alchemy tower in the north wing, and a kitchen opposite my bedroom. I managed to build an oven and another fireplace in the kitchen, and to celebrate, I made some French Bread, and Apple Dumplings. I made a list of items I needed for my alchemy and enchanting tables, but it was too late to head over to Riverwood. With my warm bed calling me, I slipped under the covers and fell asleep.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 10

Free to do as he wishes, Warrog builds more, kills more, and loots more.

Day 37
Before leaving Riverwood, I bought a couple straw from the Riverwood Trader, and returned home to build my large bed. After that it was a back and forth travel between my home and either Riverwood or Whitehelm. I've had to buy Iron Ingots, Steel Ingots, and Corundum Ingots. I started with my cellar, finishing off my blacksmith area with a tanning rack and a smelter. I built a few chests to hold my smithing and leathercraft materials. It was a bit dark down there with only my forge for light, so I added a few sconces with the goat horns I picked up during my travels. I added a couple barrels and an armor mannequin along with a large, weapon rack. On the top floor, I built a bookcase for all of the smithing books I have, and I found a space for another armor mannequin.

The one downstairs I put what pieces of the Nightingale armor I don't use on it. The one upstairs I put the couple pieces of Thieves armor on that. In my bedroom, I built a large chest, a safe, and a normal sized chest. In the safe, I placed all of the items that I've gotten so far that merchants do not have the money for.

The rest of my time was spent moving items around the house and organizing everything. I even added a lot of furniture to the balcony on top of the bedroom.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 9

Tales of Warrog continues where Warrog adds to the list of creatures he hates: giants.

Day 33
While I've been traveling all around Skyrim, the wolf population has been flourishing. I killed three on my relatively short walk back to Windhelm. It was a few hours before everyone was awake, so I got to work on some smithing, making ingots, making my Nocturnal Bow better, and creating potions from all of the ingredients I found among the Falmer. I sold everything I could, except for a Staff of Fear. No one seems to have 900 gold lying about. The blacksmith does, but I guess he doesn't work with wood. I decided to keep Mercer's sword as well as a shield I found. I think it's about time I start learning some enchantments.

Day 34
Since I found some iron ingots and made a few from an iron ore seam I found on my walk back, I decided to work on my home for a bit. The others in the Thieves Guild aren't in a hurry to help me, so I'm in no hurry to get back.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 8

Hot on the trail of Mercer, Warrog and crew investigate. See the end for a list of all of the mods I use.

Day 29
I showed up outside Riften to see a dragon flying over the city. Maybe they can appease it by using a catapult to send that hag's body for the dragon to eat. On the south side of the city walls lies the Twilight Seppuku. Inside I was given Nightingale armor. Only good piece is the feet which finally makes me silent when sneaking. Karliah insisted I wear the whole set for the ceremony. I think she just wanted to watch me change my clothes. Seeing her in the armor makes me want to see her change... into nothing.

She called on Nocturnal who took our oaths of allegiance and put Karliah back in good standing. They said when this whole thing is over, I should be the head of the Thieves Guild. I tried telling them Bryjoff should have the position, but they wouldn't hear it. This whole thing has been because of their bad luck with Nocturnal, but when you elect the guy who can't sneak to save his life the job of leading you guys in a guild, you can't blame Daedric Princes all your life for your failures.

Now that that was done, we could go find Mercer at some Dwemer ruin, Ishganght, or something. I went to Whiterun to hopefully buy better gear, but it was too late when I arrived. I turned the iron ore I found into ingots. While that was going on, a Master Vampire snuck into town and killed two people. One of them was always asking me about being visiting the Cloud District. The other was the one who asked me to grab his ancestor's sword. I looted the bodies, but left the sword, half out of respect, and half because it actually wasn't work that much. With all this new loot, I had to sell it.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 7

The tales continue as Warrog begins to rethink his career choice in life.

Day 22
I arrived in Markarth today as a guy pulled a knife. Instinct took over and I sunk my axe into his back. After talking to some witnesses, I guess he was actually one of the women. She was grateful enough to give me an Emerald Silver Necklace.

The weird part was that a guy gave me a note by making it look like it was my note. It says to meet him at a Temple of Talos. The guards in Markarth are denying it has anything to do with the Forsworn which I found out are like bandits who live out in the wild. I guess they make it a habit of killing beautiful women who like to buy jewelry. Since it goes against my rule, I'll have to do something about it.

But first, I came here for a job. I found an old wizard who is finishing his work on the Falmer language, but he's being a bitch and won't let me see it. He wouldn't even take money. My only option was to "sneak" into his work area. That involved running past four or five guards because they noticed me after I stepped twenty feet in. I now have a bounty on my head. The next section had a bunch of Wizard's Guards. This guy must be loaded to be able to hire a dozen or more guards. My killing move of choice as of late has been my patented three-strikes-to-your-face-with-my-knee-and-you're-out maneuver.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 6

It's dark days for Warrog, as he is greatly unappreciated in the Thieves Guild, and not making a lot of money.

Day 18
I stopped over at the Thieves Guild, and they wanted me to check on a guy up in Solitude. I hopped on a carriage and had to listen to the driver tell me the entire history of the city. Save me, Divines, it was a long trip.

Day 19
I entered Solitude to witness an execution. Something about him letting that guy in Windhelm escape. I honored his death by looting his body. He had an Amulet of Akatosh on. I checked again with the blacksmiths for the ingots I need, but no such luck. I grabbed another Cure Disease potion after being infected by those rats on the previous mission.

The guy I was supposed to meet was in a pub. Another Argonian. Why me? He wouldn't fess up unless I got him some alcohol from the Palace. It was out in the open and not even guarded. I'm beginning to think that all Argonians are lazy. He at least gave me some soul gems for my "troubles." Beyond that, he wouldn't give me much information apart from admitting he was the middle man between the business dealings. /yawn.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 5

Adventures continue as Warrog finds some permanence... and more wolves.

Day 14
A courier approached me while in Whiterun. A dark figure with a hood wanted me to have a letter. It was a hand print with the inscription: "We know." I guess those kids at the orphanage really do care. They were nice enough to send me a thank you note.

In the Inn, I found my contact, Mallus. My job I found out was to poison the mead using rat poison I would get from the owner because he had a rat problem. After some convincing, I got half of my pay up front. Down in the cellar, I found some rats, and the passageway open to a tunnel that leads to the factory. These rats must be drinking the mead, because they're a lot tougher than your typical giant rat. The infestation is pretty bad, having to utilize my patented wait-around-the-corner-and-attack-one-at-a-time technique, and I have had to resort to using most of my food to replenish my failing health. There's even an infestation of spiders. This guy's got all sorts of problems... not counting the poison.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 4

The tales continue with Warrog, the not-so-sneak thief.

Day 10
In retrospect, I should have just grabbed a carriage, but it did not occur to me until I had reached my destination of Riften. I did find that the wolf population is thriving, or was thriving, in the south, as well as the number of giant spiders. I was accosted by three spiders and three wolves. They may have been planning the attack knowing what I had done in the north.

When I arrived at Riften, the guards tried to tax me for entering the town. Not wanting to leave a paper trail that I had been in town for what I was about to do, I stared menacingly until he let me pass. I was hardly 25 feet inside the town when a guy named Maul stopped me and started asking questions. I tried acting tough, but he was having none of it, but at least he left me alone.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 3

Tales of Warrog follows an Orc in Skyrim as he makes a name for himself, and not just in the snow of Windhelm.

Day 9
It's been a long day of traveling, and kill of dragons. It would be nice to get into town and relax--maybe sell some warhammers.

I arrived in Windhelm as everyone ran at me. I guess my good name has spread wide as Warrog the Dragon Slayer, or some variation thereof. Instead they ran past me to some vampires who got inside. I guess the glowing red eyes wasn't a dead giveaway (no pun intended).

People may write of me in the future, that his bloodlust cannot be quenched, but it does have its limits. Seeing a large melee ensue of townspeople gathered around three vampires, I made my way to the palace to alert the guards. They were nonplussed. By the time I made it back, guards from a different direction had come to the aid, and all were dead. Including three townspeople. One of which was Nils. I didn't know much about Nils, only that he was old, and he liked chopping wood, and I can respect that. I also respect not letting their valuables going to waste. Why some of these "good" people had lockpicking tools on their person, Tamriel may never know.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 2

Tales of Warrog follows the adventures of my new character in Skyrim, an Orc. He does what he pleases, because he has no shame.

Day 6
Technically it's still Day 5, but the road back to Whiterun was boring, and uneventful. As I reached the gate, the guard tried to stop me, saying no one was allowed in. Again with these racist pricks. It took all of my self control to not smack a bitch, and explained to him that I had sighted a dragon. So unless he wanted to be roasted alive while we debated who gets entry, I suggested he allow me to enter.

Whiterun is about as big as Windhelm, though a bit warmer. I heard the blacksmith say something about not having enough time to make the weapons that were ordered, but I was on a mission of sorts, and I ran off. Down the road, a black guy stopped to talk about how he was sorry I had to listen to his wife and him argue. I had neither seen his wife, nor heard them argue, but when he said he was missing his sword, I offered to help... eventually. He thanked me and told me where the bandits were hiding. Man, everyone is getting their shit stolen lately... and not from me.

Tales of Warrog: Chapter 1

Tales of Warrog is a Journal type story of what a person would write if they were experiencing Skyrim. This game is run with numerous mods.

Day 1
I'm an Orc named Warrog. I woke up from a daze after being attacked and left for dead. My memory is a little fuzzy. I don't remember riding with this Khajit. I collected some armor, supplies, and a one-handed axe. As I tried to remember what sign I may have been born under. Two wolves attacked me. Thankfully, I was able to backtrack until they were dead. I collected their pelts and made my way to the nearest town, Windhelm. On the way, I found lots of plants and flowers, so I picked them. The guard did not seem to mind me picking flowers from around the Inn.

I made it into town and tried to buy a two handed weapon, as I at least know I'm good at that. The blacksmith is trying to rip me off. After making potions from the materials I collected, and selling a lot of the excess materials to the alchemist, I managed to have enough to buy a greatsword.

From the creators who brought you Table Top, comes a new channel for vloggers, Geek & Sundry Vlogs looking to share their passions and interests with you. There is a wide variety of shows that may be of interest to you. Here I will list my favorites and what they have to offer (In in particular order)

Kiriosity with Kiri Callaghan
Kiri is random, but interesting touching on a range of topics that typically ties into fantasy, sci-fi, and history (all of which I love).

Retro Gaming with Scott Tumilty
I was a big gamer back in the day, but sadly I no longer have a rig that can handle the newer games. This show is one big nostalgia trip into games I grew up playing and loving.

YouTube Review: RollPlay & Misscliks

I have been playing Palladium Fantasy on and off for the last ten years or so. Over the time, I have changed both as a player and a game master (GM). Through TotalBiscuit on YouTube, I came across JP McDaniel's RollPlay series. In it, JP McDaniel, Ryan Moore, Geoff Robinson, and Geneviève Forget play Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition with their Dungeon Master, Neal Erickson. With only webcams and a screen showing the Roll20.net's map and dice rolling features, they are able to offer hours upon hours of entertainment full of gut-wrenching laughter, and all the feels the Internet has to offer.

3D: The Fad That Won't Die

3D technology in films has been around almost as long as film itself. The "gimmick" of 3D was most popular in the 1980s and 90s. Sadly, this gimmick never actually died. As technology has become more advanced, especially with digital cinema and computer generated animation, 3D has become more popular than ever. Many people are unwilling to accept change, most notably with the advent of digital film vs traditional film. While 3D movies can work in some ways, old gimmicks and new ones hurt these movies more than anything.

NASCAR as a Society

NASCAR is described as a governing body for motorsports. In other words, it is a government. But what kind of a government is it? One has to only look at its actions to see the sad truth about the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

NASCAR as a government is a lot of things all balled up into one. For starters, it is Socialist. Every car is generally the same. All cars must meet the template, and the engines are so close there is no advantage to any party. The facade, both figuratively and literally, gives the illusion that there is some discrepancy between the different manufacturers. They say there is a ton of competition in NASCAR because the cars are so close, but that is really a lie. When everyone is the same, it is not competition. Competition is when manufacturers develop new cars to try to be the best, forcing other car companies to make theirs better. That is true competition.

Movie Going Experience Gauges Society

Every has their horror story of going to the movie theater with rude people all around. I have had the occasional talking person behind me, and even some seat kickers. The stories I have heard from others are horrible, ranging from talking on cell phones to taking pictures of themselves with their cell phones while the movie is playing, to fights breaking out.

I have always been the one to not talk during a film, unless I had to ask a question of someone I was with concerning the movie's plot. One of the first films I remember seeing in a theater is Jurassic Park. By then I was around the age of ten. Today, there is a huge market for very young kids to go see movies, and by very young, I mean in the 3-4 range. There is plenty of blame to go around from the culture, to bad parenting, and to the movie industry itself who markets to these young children.

CGI vs Practical Effects Plus Jack the Giant Slayer Movie Review

Much like the government has had a slow creep into every facet of our lives, so has CGI had a slow creep into every shot on the big screen. CGI is not inherently bad, but at some point, the level of technology has not advanced to the point of replacing one medium for another. There are pros and cons to either side of the issue, and there are other factors involved with why CGI has become so prevalent. Today, preproduction is given about three months where in the past they were given as much as nine months. The same may be true for CGI where not enough time is given to digital artists to place the very nuanced details required to make a shot look real and believable.

Data Management: Swarm Technology vs Cloud Servers, A Natural Order

In the beginning, there was data. And this data was held nearly physical until technology advanced to the point of it being held on disks and eventually solid state drives. This data was at first kept locally. Each person's data was their own. When networks were established, links between data was achieved and could be shared or duplicated.

Creative Writing Tips: Pacing

Something that may not be thought of often by writers is pacing. It is a difficult thing to work on as you write only because it can sometimes only be felt when reading the book as a whole. However, it is a very important aspect of a story making any great story unbearable to read because how fast or slow the story progresses. The length of a book can make it even more difficult to get the pacing right with more time spent perhaps in exposition. A good way to tell if a book has good pacing is if a reader "flies through it," or "can't put it down."
